Eclipse Season Spring 2022

We have officially entered the season of change! The first pair of eclipses in the 2022 calendar year has arrived and chances are, your life is priming itself for huge changes if they haven't already begun.

Eclipses occur 4-6 times per year, usually in pairs or with a third tacked on for good measure. A typical season consists of a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse and a New Moon Solar Eclipse, about two weeks apart, totaling out to about 6 weeks of buzzing, shifting energies attempting to help us move forward like a slingshot rubber band! We can start to feel the effects of these energies about two weeks before the first eclipse and the energy may linger until about two weeks after the last. However, the movements made to get us to the exact place we need to be for the eclipses to work their magic may begin weeks before the electricity starts to strike.

Eclipses happen because of the angle at which the Earth, Moon, and Sun line up, creating an eclipsed Moon (at the Full Moon) and an eclipsed Sun (at the New Moon). If you haven't looked up the science of eclipses, that might be a cool thing to do, especially if you're extra logical and want to know the astronomy of these phenomenons. But, in order to stay true to the name of this blog, Let's Get Metaphysical about it!!

Eclipses are wormholes in our reality. They create a period of time where we humans are less attached to the control of our lives and more rooted in a surrendered space of receiving what's next. Knowing humans, this isn't necessarily always done willingly. So, our lovely Universe (or insert title of preferred divination here) uses eclipses as an energetic blueprint for us to, well, sort of have the control taken from us.

I know what you're thinking, this sounds terrifying! Try to not think too hard about it with your human mind. Rather, zoom out past your ego's 3D width and remember that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. Much of our life path (and the collective experience) is reflected through the energies of the planets and other celestial bodies as they move through the sky and connect with one another, creating their own gridded elixir of energy. Hence, Astrology!

Astrology doesn't necessarily determine our experiences but it does help us understand the energies that keep our life paths building upon themselves and progressing forward. I encourage people to use astrology to understand the blueprint of underlying energies to better understand themselves, their life path, and to help them work with the season or moment they're in, whether it is collective or individual (interacting with one's natal chart or the blueprint grid of energy we were born into and was imprinted upon us energetically). Astrology is a map to help us understand how to best work with ourselves, others, and the energies we find ourselves navigating in this world!

Alas, we are in the season of change as the eclipses inch ever closer. The verb "eclipse" is defined as obscuring the light from or to a celestial body. Since we're getting metaphysical about it, let's go ahead and call ourselves celestial bodies. Everything in this physical world is a projected metaphor for seeing and understanding our spiritual nature and experiences. When the celestial bodies in the sky eclipse one another, we too are eclipsed. The light is obscured from us, which is why roughly twice a year, we watch the Sun and the Moon disappear before our very eyes. Albeit, very, VERY slowly.

As above, so below! Behold, a metaphor appears. We find ourselves eclipsed in our vitality (Sun) and our emotional body (Moon) leading to darkness where we once sourced light, clarity, and direction. We also find here a general dependency on going with the flow and loosening our grip. After all, if you couldn't see the road ahead of you, wouldn't you want someone who can see it all clearly to grab the wheel? Well, they can't quite do that if we don't first relinquish our tight grasp.

So that is what eclipses ask of us, and quite intensely at times if we do not listen. They wiggle things from our hands that are meant to be released, reconfigured, or let go of completely. We can get quite shaken up ourselves if we hold on too tightly to what it is that needs to be surrendered. Most of the time, there are energies, people, and opportunities trying to make their way to us and something (internal, external, or both) needs to be surrendered or let go of in order to receive what is to come.

That is why the best medicine for eclipse season, especially the eclipses themselves, is to surrender entirely to what is bigger than you. To lean into the greater Universal intelligence and know that there is a plan beyond your knowledge moving forth in all moments of your existence, with an incredible amount of switching strings and moving interconnected pieces. Far too much for us ego-laced humans to deal with properly, in my opinion. But we don't have to! We are merely the players down here on Earth, executing our plays and moving forward on the map. Our plays are often sourced from much higher, more expansive forms of intelligence such as our own soul and the spiritual beings who help guide us once we incarnate into the journey.

While we do have free will and our own independence, most of life is actually us navigating a field that has already been laid before us, a plan that we designed pre-incarnation and is looked after and edited as we go by the spiritual beings who are assigned to guide us. If we were to compare our life path and journey to bowling, the Universe serves as our bowling bumpers and variables, helping to direct our ball down the lane into the pins our soul intends to aim for. While we get to choose the color and size of the ball here on Earth, our soul has already determined the placement of pins and already trusts our capability to get the ball rolling and make it there. Over and over again!

Think of eclipses as check-in points between us and our higher selves (our soul, the universe within us). We are being asked to allow our ego to let go of the wheel. We are being asked to let go of what we logically think is best for us and lean into the universal bowling bumpers, letting them take over for a small period of time to help redirect us in a very hasty fashion. That is why intense things seem to shift and happen around eclipses. People, opportunities, and energies exit and enter our lives, and depending on where the eclipses touch on your natal chart, internal shifts come about as well.

So you can see now, hopefully, WHY it is so important that we lean into the eclipsed part of our lives and allow the Universe to do its job. Whatever feels aimless, out of control, or just not there yet needs to be relinquished just enough so that fate can take over and those bowling bumpers can help us get our balls to the pins faster and more powerfully than maybe on our own. No one likes a gutter ball!

Here is some more info on this specific set of eclipses:

This season is happening in an unusual order. We start off with a New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse in Taurus (10 degrees) on April 30th and then follow up with a Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio (25 degrees) on May 15th. We are on a path of building sustainable new structures in our lives and clearing out the inner subconscious and shadow clutter that keeps us from fully embracing these new directions and new dances we are slowly but surely shifting into.

To find out where these eclipses will affect you, you'll have to know your date, time, and place of birth. You can download the app TimePassages and put your info in or you can visit cafeastrology.com to run a free natal birth chart. Once you have your natal chart pulled up, locate 10 degrees Taurus and 25 degrees Scorpio. Determine which houses these fall in (1-12) and google the house number to see the area of your life that is being kissed by these eclipses. Make sure you consider the type of eclipse. So for 10 degrees Taurus, know that you are building. For 25 degrees Scorpio, know that you are releasing.

Let go of control (within reason, of course) and allow the winds of fate to blow you in a certain direction. Trust that this direction is conducive to what you've been wanting to create in your life and what your soul knows you need for this next leg of your journey. Trust that there is a higher, more intelligent plan in place that covers the infinite bases that you couldn't quite possibly see and navigate on your own. Trust that this is all happening to propel you forward, to move you out of and into the energies and experiences that are for your highest good.

So, whether you are finding yourself in an incredible ending, a gigantic beginning, or a little mix of both, trust. Lean into the darkness you may find yourself in and know that if the celestial bodies eclipse themselves and come back brighter than ever, so shall you. So shall you!

The Illusion of Unworthiness

I have been thinking a lot lately about worthiness. What it means, where it comes from, what it feels like, and why it's so damn hard to...
